Electrocutions
and burns cause thousands of injuries in New York every year.
Also referred to as electric shock, electrical injuries
occur when a person makes contact with a live source of
electricity either directly or through an object that
conducts electricity such as a ladder or a power tool or
an appliance. Exposure to hot electrical wires can
cause severe burns, damage to the nervous system or
heart or other unwanted symptoms. The damaged sustained
depends on the amount and type of electrical current and
the way that it travels thru the individual’s body.
Victims and
families of electrocution accidents may be entitled to
significant compensation for these injuries, especially
when they are caused by negligence.
Electrocution Causes
For adults, most electric shock incidents occur at work,
although they can also happen at home. Electrocution is

workers who encounter the presence of live and exposed

Unintentional

water while using an electrical outlet, as in unsafe
